Are You Ready?
The United Varsity Bible Study Camp was held from 6 to 9 Jan 2026 at Changi Bethany Church under the theme of “Are You Ready?” The camp brought together the students of the university Chinese CFs (CCF) to explore the Old Testament and develop essential Bible study skills.
From the very beginning, I was already excited for the Bible Camp, not only because it was a four-day, three-night camp, but also because this year’s camp would explore the prophetic books, a part of the Bible that I was not very familiar with. I was often confused by certain aspects, such as the differences between Judah and Israel, or the relationship between Persia and Babylon. I thereby signed up for the camp and eagerly hoped that these questions could be answered.
Over these four days, the camp greatly deepened my understanding of the Old Testament, especially the prophetic books. On the first day, an overview of Old Testament history helped me grasp the actual roles of a prophet and clarified the relationships between Israel, Judah, and the surrounding empires such as Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Greece, resolving many confusions I had while reading the Old Testament. The second day began with super fun mass activities and was followed by lessons on the historical timeline of the prophets, both major and minor. I have also learned the meaningful connection between the Book of Jeremiah and Lamentations, which I had never thought about! On the third day, we studied the formation of the Old Testament canon, including disputed books and key concepts such as the Septuagint and the Apocrypha, followed by practising Inductive Bible Study on the Book of Amos. On the final day, we were introduced to apocalyptic literature and its purpose in the Scripture.

Beyond gaining a wealth of biblical knowledge, I am also deeply thankful that through this camp I was able to meet brothers and sisters from other university CCFs, as well as the staff workers of FES. I truly experienced the warmth of the FES family and the love and care that we share for one another. Overall, the Bible Camp lived up to my expectations; not only did I benefit greatly, but many of my questions regarding the Old Testament were also clarified. I was reassured again that our Father is truly sovereign over the people, nations, the world and everything else. It further strengthens my faith in God, knowing that He always has the perfect plan prepared for me, just like how the Judeans being exiled and then brought back to Jerusalem was painful yet ended with rejoicing. That being said, I am excited to explore more books in the Old Testament!
Lastly, I am glad that I was given the opportunity to serve and work with other brothers and sisters in Christ and to take part in God’s ministry by planning for the camp. Look forward to the Bible Camp in 2027!
