Connecting Our Story with God’s

SIM ISCF hosted our annual camp from 6 to 8 February 2026 at Majodi Retreat Centre, Johor Bahru, under the theme “Connecting Our Story with God’s.” Through the four pillars of creation, fall, redemption, and consummation, participants explored God’s grand narrative for humanity.

While many of us are familiar with Jesus’ gift of salvation, we may be less familiar with what awaits when He comes again. One particularly meaningful session explored this hope, reminding us that heaven is not merely our destination after death, but the promise of a new heaven and a new earth – where God dwells with His people, free from sorrow and death.

Reflecting on the biblical story

This truth reminded me of our fragile and fleeting existence, limited in our understanding of God’s eternal plans. Though we live in an imperfect world filled with suffering, such pain will not last, for beyond this life awaits a glorious eternity. This revelation reshaped my perspective to live with humility, acknowledging our small existence in God’s gigantic universe. It reassured me not to overthink about life and live with hope, for one thing is certain: God’s promise of a new heaven and a new earth full of glory will surely come to pass.

Ultimately, the camp challenged us not merely to understand God’s story, but to locate ourselves within it. If God’s plan is the restoration and reconciliation of all creation to Himself, then our calling is not passive waiting, but faithful participation. As recipients of His redeeming grace, we are invited to become agents of that same grace. We are called to reflect His character, to mend what is broken, to care for His creation, and to point others to the hope found in Christ. In doing so, our individual stories become woven into God’s greater narrative of redemption, as we take part in His ongoing work of restoring the world to Himself.
