A Living Heritage
Twenty years after it was last held, the FES English Section hosted a Family Day on 27 June 2026 at Trinity Theological College under the theme of “A Living Heritage”. Supporters, volunteers, and former staff workers gathered to celebrate and give thanks for the living heritage that God has built through the ministry, and for the part each has played in it. Three participants share their experience of that special day.
My committee member and I were kindly invited to represent NP CF at Family Day. It is a blessing for NP CF to be part of FES’ work, and to have the joy and provisions to lovingly give a small contribution back to FES. It was truly heartening to see leaders and supporters of the past and present, hear from them how they humbly contributed and served, receive touching words of encouragement from them, and celebrate the ministry’s 67th anniversary and praise the same God together.

Hearing from the staff on how the ministry is growing and striving to be there for the youths – regardless of campus, stage of life, or language – really encouraged us to continue praying for all the students and staff, as they intentionally put their time, mind, heart, and strength to lead and serve the campus fellowships. As I press on in my service, I will always be grateful for and not take for granted the privilege of being part of the meaningful work of FES, and will remember that all honour and praise belong to God for the past and continued work!

Before coming for Family Day, Gabriel, one of the staff workers I used to serve with as a student at Salt & Light Table (S<) ministry, was telling me that he read through many of the old meeting minutes of the ministry in preparation for Family Day.
That stuck with me for some reason. The more I thought about it, considering the future generations of people who may stumble upon those documents as well, I found that the lyrics of one of the worship songs we sang on that day perfectly described how I felt: “May all who come behind us find us faithful”.
Faithful. Not perfect.
In a room full of ministry partners who have each made our fair share of mistakes, I was touched and encouraged by the emphasis on continued obedience and faithfulness to God, rather than how perfect or imperfect we or our ministries are.
I’m in a season of my life where this is really hitting home; I feel incredibly inadequate and imperfect for any sort of ministry whatsoever. But I’m thankful for the reminder that God’s desire is for me to be obedient and faithful while I strive towards the perfection modelled by Christ.

A meal with fellow supporters of the ministry
Thank you to the organisers for inviting me to FES Family Day! I was amazed to be able to join in worship with a hall full of VCFers of so many generations, including staffworkers of my time. It was so good to recall the happy days when campuses were filled with conversations at our heavenly Father’s table, the Bible was equally and powerfully taught to seekers and the saved, seeds of faith grew into mighty oak trees, and studies were beside the point.
Thank you FES for reminding us about who we all are in the Father’s love and for bringing the FES family together again.
