Seeking God in Thailand

Eight of us from NTU CCF went on a mission trip to Ayutthaya, Thailand, from 28 May to 3 June 2025. We were blessed to have with us two NTU CCF alumni, Ben and En Xin – a loving couple with two children – who are serving full-time with SIM (Serving in Mission). They graciously guided and assisted us throughout the planning and preparation for our trip.

During our time there, we had the opportunity to connect with various people serving with SIM, and conduct English and Chinese language lessons for children in schools and temples. We also observed firsthand how the missionaries and local churches minister to the less fortunate and those in need while facing unique challenges of their own.

As the trip was long and demanding, we prepared ourselves spiritually by reading theological resources focused on missions. In our training, we deepened our understanding of God’s kingdom, learned to show hospitality by demonstrating God’s love, and reflected on how to live out an incarnational ministry by following in Jesus’ footsteps. For the lessons and programmes we organised, regular planning meetings were held to ensure our content was clear, sound, and consistent for everyone involved.

Through all this preparation, one simple yet important lesson stood out to me: remembering to slow down and walk in His Spirit. With so many tasks and trainings to complete, it was easy for me to lose sight of the heart of the mission and become preoccupied with progress and results. I realised how crucial it was to remain intentional about seeking growth and stillness in God so that I could truly hear His lessons for me during this trip and witness firsthand how He is expanding His kingdom.

Looking ahead, I am deeply thankful to God for the privilege of going on my first mission trip, and I pray it will not be my last. This humbling experience in a foreign land among the less fortunate will serve as an ongoing reminder in my ministry journey that, no matter what I do, I am called to be content in all circumstances, grateful for God’s blessings, and always ready to share His love with those around me. I will continue to endure hardships and seek His guidance until the day He calls me home, for I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
