Through All Generations
The GCF-FES Annual Dinner was held on 19 September 2025 at YWCA Fort Canning. In celebration of GCF’s 70th anniversary, this year’s theme was “Through All Generations”.
Walking into GCF’s 70th anniversary dinner felt a little like a family reunion! I got to hug friends I hadn’t seen in a while and, even sweeter, to meet the men and women whose quiet faithfulness carried GCF in its early days. To sit at their tables, hear their names and prayers, and realise we’re part of one long story gave me a deep sense of gratitude and belonging.
Hearing the pioneers share in their own words was especially moving. As they traced God’s leading – from the beginnings of various graduate fellowships in Law CF, medical and dental (CMDF), teaching (TCF) and many more – I could finally connect the dots I’d only heard about. The common thread wasn’t hype or strategy, but faithful obedience: students who became graduates who kept showing up, serving, and pointing others (especially younger generations) to Jesus.

So when I was invited to sit beside them on the panel, it was nerve-wrecking. I felt small and young. Still, I’m blessed to have the opportunity to share and hence I said yes. I shared three hopes for our next chapter. First, that we continue to strengthen our discipleship of young graduates, helping them follow Christ in the real pressures of work: tough ethical calls, grey zones, and time poverty. Second, that we nurture intergenerational fellowship through small, unhurried gatherings that prize presence, prayer, and listening – less of doing, and more of being. Third, that we practice mentoring across life stages – young parents, pre-marital couples, mid-career, pre-retirees – so no one slips through the cracks, so that we could learn and carry forward the insights obtained from the conversations.
My prayer is that GCF keeps growing up in Christ: receiving the wisdom entrusted to us, and, together, charting faithful next steps for the sake of the Church and the world God loves.
