Launching: Time given for campus fellowships to share insights from the conference and initiate follow-up action.

NC 18 reminded me about the ones that are often forgotten in this society, who also need to hear the Good News and experience God’s love. I felt guilty for having – consciously or unconsciously – neglected the people around me due to not wanting to step out of my comfort zone.
The hidden and the forgotten not only refer to people, but also the natural world that God created. In Genesis 1:28, we are called to rule over all the other creatures, which includes the environment. Unfortunately, we tend to abuse this authority given by God. Instead of taking care of it, we exploit it.
As much as I feel ashamed of myself as a Christian, I am also grateful that God created this opportunity to remind me that love is the greatest thing of all. God is love, and as creations created in His image, we should reflect that in our lives. I pray that He will continue to stir our hearts just as the song by Graham Kendrick goes, “Come, change our love from a spark to a flame”, so that we can show His love to others.

NTU and NUS Indonesian Students’ CF
Mission 5 was campus time: we got together to consider how we could bring Shalom back to our campuses by participating in the Shalom Project. Coincidentally, this was in line with our Community Engagement focus in NTU English CF this year. We had hoped for each small group to engage a hidden community during recess week, as a way of putting into action what we had learnt in our studies on the book of Ruth. It was extremely encouraging to see CFers share their burden and long-term plans for these communities and being willing to take up the commitment to live incarnationally. My prayer for NTU ECF would be for us to care for what the Lord cares about, and to continue to learn what it means to be ‘word made flesh’, wherever God places us in.

NTU Chinese CF and NUS Chinese VCF
Do I really understand what it feels like to be exploited, without personally experiencing injustice? I’ve had no problem achieving whatever I worked hard for; I’ve only received God’s surpassing grace. How do I relate with those who have been or are suffering injustice and exploitation? Without similar experiences, can I preach the gospel effectively? How do I show God’s love? Do I really understand what it means to “trust in the Lord with all [my] heart and lean not on [my] own understanding?”
I also reflected on my Christian identity in every aspect of my life. In everything we do, God cares. It is the heart that God looks at and it is the heart from which flows everything we do. Is Christ in me all the time?
At the last worship session during the closing ceremony, the hymn The Summons touched many, including me, and the Holy Spirit spoke to many of us. I shall end by quoting the lyrics of the first stanza of this hymn:
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown?
Will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
Will I?
